Space Planning

SPACE PLANNING  One of the most important aspects of interior design; it can have a very strong impact on the success of a room.  Space planning takes into effect how one optimizes their space and achieves the best flow of space.  We ensure that the room’s needs and functions are taken into consideration and any difficult spaces, or problem areas are dealt with.

Paint Colour Consultation

PAINT COLOUR CONSULTATION Choosing a paint colour seems like a simple task until you start bringing home the colour samples you selected from the paint store.  You’re baffled why the colour doesn’t look anything like the colour you looked at in the store.  There are many variables to consider when selecting colour; natural light, artificial light, the elements that are in the room where the paint will be applied all need to be considered.  As an Interior Designer my job is to assist you in selecting a colour scheme with an in home paint colour consultation that will enhance your home and bring your surroundings to life.  Your home’s exposure to light and existing decor will be taken into consideration to ensure the best possible selection is made for your home.

Materials Finishes

SELECTION OF MATERIALS FINISHES  My focus as an Interior Designer is to help you with the daunting task of choosing the right selection of materials, fixtures and finishes to bring cohesiveness into the interior and/or exterior design of your home that will exemplify beauty, function and complement the overall interior design scheme.

A Hit of Color Inspiration Equals Happiness

With Spring just mere moments away I am craving for a hit of colour happiness. Lately my color inspiration is coral pink and turquoise.  I know these two colour combos have been around for quite awhile, but I still find it catches my attention.  There’s something calming about coral and turquoise together; it seems organic to me. Just imagine an early evening sky after a warm summer day,  picture the coral that streaks through the sky leaving you with the notion that tomorrow will be a good day.  That my...

Urban Chicken Coops

I started looking into urban chicken coops some time ago last year because my husband Jeff thought he might like to have a few chickens in our backyard.  He also thought a few chickens would be fun for our daughter to have as pets.  Okay, I have nothing against chickens other than I don’t really like to eat them and I’m not crazy about eating eggs unless they are in a layered cake or a batch of cookies.  I suppose if my daughter liked eggs I would consider...

Husband is Planning to Build a Greenhouse

Myhusband Jeff and I, or should I say my husband is planning to build a greenhouse in our backyard this spring. I do get to have some say about the design of this building, but it’s  his project even though I’m the interior designer in the family; he should have been an architect rather than a Mortgage broker. Last year he built our daughter a play house, not your average play house.  This play house will grow with her.  It’s not kid height, nor is it made of plastic; it...

A Dog House Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright

While researching urban chicken coops I stumbled upon an article featuring a dog house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright; one of my favorite architects. I’m positive many of you know who Frank Lloyd Wright is and some of the famous houses and buildings designed by him, but did you know he designed a dog house? This dog house was designed for a 12 year old boy back in 1956 in Los Angeles after this boy had the courage to ask Frank Lloyd Wright to design it for him.  At the...

The Days of Gray

The days of gray are over for me.  I don’t know about you, but I am moving away from the gray trend in interiors.  Sure, we’ve seen some really stunning interiors with a gray colour scheme, but I really want to see colour now.  It maybe because the snow has stuck since late November here, or we’re feeling some movement out of a recession; whatever it is bring me colour! I’m having a hard time trying to figure out when the blah gray days began only because when I...

Hocus Pocus make it go away- Organized Home

Hocus pocus make it go away-organized home!  I have to admit I detest clutter, junk, piles of scraps and bits however; I seem to have collections of it all.  It hides in my basement calling my name daily.  I’m the David Copperfield of temporary hiding spots for junk until I have time to properly take care of it.  Having junk around me makes me anxious and I can’t seem to be able to focus, walking and thinking in circles, until it’s gone.  My hiding spots seem logical at the...

Emerald- Pantone Color of the year

I love the colour green and I find it fitting that this year’s focus is Emerald- Pantone Color of the year.  I associate green as a happy and comforting colour; it signifies new beginnings and gives me a boost of energy.  So far, this year has started off really well for me and I can feel it’s going to get much more exciting.   I have to be honest I’m not the biggest fan of using green with paint applications, however I do like it as an accent whether it is a...

Decorating on a Budget – December Dollar Days of Christmas Decorating

Decorating on a Budget There are so many options these days for Christmas themes and decorations that one can go overboard  and when decorating on a budget its time to make your own decorations. I’m not someone who buys decorations for my home every Christmas however, if I feel like changing things up I tend to make something and I try to stick to a budget. Crafting doesn’t really interest me, but I can be crafty and creative at times and I can get excited and buy whatever I think may...
